Password Protect PDF

Lock down your sensitive documents with military-grade encryption instantly.

Stop Unauthorized Access

In the digital age, sending sensitive information via email without protection is a massive liability. Whether you are a freelance accountant sharing a client's tax returns, a lawyer sending a settlement agreement, or an HR manager distributing payroll details, you must encrypt PDF files to ensure that only the intended recipient can read them.

Our security tool allows you to password protect PDF documents using industry-standard encryption protocols. Once applied, anyone who intercepts the file or finds it on a shared computer will be met with a strict password prompt. Without the exact passphrase, the content inside remains totally scrambled and impossible to extract.

Because security is the entire purpose of this tool, we built it to operate 100% offline within your browser. There is absolutely no reason you should ever upload your unencrypted financial data to a random server just to lock it. With our tool, the encryption happens locally on your machine, ensuring zero risk of data leaks during the process.

How to Encrypt Your File

  1. Select Document: Drop the sensitive PDF into the encryption zone.
  2. Set Password: Type a strong, memorable passphrase into the security field.
  3. Lock File: Click the protect button. The browser will mathematically scramble the file using your password as the key.
  4. Download: Save the newly encrypted file. You can now email it safely.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I forget the password?

Because we use strong encryption, there is no 'forgot password' recovery button for PDFs. If you lose the password, the document cannot be opened. We strongly suggest keeping a backup of the original unencrypted file in a safe place.

Is the encryption strong enough for legal documents?

Yes. Our tool applies 128-bit or 256-bit AES encryption (depending on the file version), which is the standard used by governments and banks worldwide. It is mathematically secure against brute-force attacks.
